Use Your Body as a Shield
One of the best ways to protect the puck is by placing your body between the puck and the defender. By turning your back or side toward the opponent, you make it much harder for them to reach the puck with their stick.
Keeping your knees bent and maintaining a strong skating stance helps you stay balanced while shielding the puck.
Keep the Puck Away from Defenders
Players should try to keep the puck on the side of their body that is farthest from the defender. This forces the opponent to reach around you, which makes it easier to maintain control.
